Description
Centripetal force is the force that keeps an object moving in a circular path, always directed towards the center of the circle. It's not a force in itself, but rather the net force that results in circular motion. For example, the tension in a string holding a ball in a circular path is the centripetal force, and gravity provides the centripetal force for planets orbiting the sun.
