Description
The brachistochrone curve is the curve of quickest descent between two points under the influence of gravity. While it might seem intuitive that a straight line would be the fastest path, the brachistochrone demonstrates that a cycloid (a curve traced by a point on a rolling circle) is actually the quickest. This concept is explored in STEM education to teach principles of physics and calculus, particularly the calculus of variations.
