Description
An electromagnet is a magnet created by running an electrical current through a coil of wire, often wrapped around a magnetic core like iron. The core becomes magnetized when electricity flows, and the magnetic field disappears when the current is turned off. This makes electromagnets temporary magnets, unlike permanent magnets which retain their magnetism.
