Description
A Hooke's Law apparatus in a stem lab is used to demonstrate the relationship between the force applied to a spring and its resulting extension or compression. It typically consists of a spring, a scale or ruler for measuring extension, and a mechanism to apply controlled forces (usually weights). The apparatus allows students to experimentally verify Hooke's Law, which states that the extension of a spring is directly proportional to the force applied, within its elastic limit.
