Description
Persistence of vision is an optical illusion where the human eye continues to briefly see an image even after it has disappeared. This phenomenon is the basis for how we perceive motion in movies and animations, as the brain interprets a series of still images flashed in rapid succession as a continuous, moving picture. It occurs because the retina retains an image for a fraction of a second, allowing the brain to blend consecutive images together.
